Mr. Maclyn Eick

In a previous post we shared details about the recent LAPD arrest warrant for a Bishop Alemany High School teacher.  William Maclyn Murphy Eick, better known as Mr. Maclyn Eick, entered the Los Angeles Superior Court, San Fernando Courthouse with his lawyer on Tuesday May 2, 2017, and was booked on charges that include Unlawful Sex with a Minor and Oral Copulation.

Maclyn Eick pleaded Not Guilty to two counts of child molestation in Los Angeles Supreme Court Case number PA088565.  The San Fernando Courthouse Filing Date was April 18, 2017.  The recorded violation date was June 10, 2014.  The charges filed against Eick are as follows:

• One count, PC 261.5 (C) – Unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
• One count, PC 288A (B) (1) – Lewd or Lascivious Acts on a minor by use of force or intimidation and unlawful bodily injury.

High School Coach and Science Teacher

It appears that Mr. Eick was highly involved as a Bishop Alemany High School teacher and coach from 2009 through 2016.  The Bishop Alemany High School website listed high school Physics, Geometry, and Chemistry as some of the classes that Mr. Eick taught.  He coached the girls junior varsity volleyball team, coordinated robotics, and the Ultimate Frisbee groups for the high school as well.  We found various photos of Mr. Eick with the Bishop Alemany Frosh Volleyball Team from 2010 on a school-related Facebook page.  Even though the photos are seven years old, we think they are a much better physical representation of Mr. Eick than the publicly released photo provided by the LAPD.

Mr. Maclyn Eick worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District teaching 9th grade Algebra at Panorama High School in Panorama City, CA from 2009-2011 respectively.  He coached boys volleyball at Panorama High as well.  Records also show that Mr. Eick worked for the San Diego Unified School District from April, 2004 to June, 2008 as an AVID tutor.  Based on this timeline, Mr. Eick worked for both the LAUSD and Bishop Alemany simultaneously for a few years.  There is record of a small claims case filed against Mr. Eick by the LAUSD in 2012 that was eventually dismissed.

William Maclyn Murphy Eick is a Bishop Alemany High School alum.  He graduated from the Catholic high school in 2003.  He continued on to attend and graduate from the University of California, San Diego in 2008 and then attended the Teacher Education Program at National University a few years later while beginning his career teaching high school students.  Upon returning to Bishop Alemany High School as a teacher, Mr. Eick wrote the following:
Ever since I graduated from Alemany, I have seen myself returning to the school in some form or another. I am excited for the opportunity to continue to help Alemany in its goal of fostering a Catholic community where students can learn and grow into responsible adults.
