Four More Victims in Fr Cunningham Molestation Case

Patterns of sexual molestation began in the 1990’s

Four more victims in the Fr Cunningham molestation case came forward to file lawsuits against the Catholic Priest.  They were 10-12 years-old at the time of the abuse.  The lawsuits were filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court,  thus adding to the current lawsuit and approaching trial.

The victims span across Fr Chris Cunningham’s career as a Catholic Priest.  All of them were sexually abused by Fr Cunningham during the 1990’s and on church property.  The churches where the abuse happened include St. Louise de Marillac Church, Covina, St. Mary Catholic Church, Palmdale and St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church, Redondo Beach.

Fr Cunningham Molestation Known by Fellow Priests

In our original 2015 Fr Cunningham molestation lawsuit we talk about how the Archdiocese of Los Angeles destroyed records from Fr Cunningham’s personnel file.  But a recent newspaper article published by The Beach Reporter shows a detailed account of how one of Fr Chris’ bosses, Fr. Michael Lenihan, former pastor of St. Lawrence Martyr, Redondo Beach, had previous knowledge of complaints made against Fr. Chris for child sexual abuse behaviors.

Clearly, Fr. Chris’ behavior with children was questionable–at the very least–as far back as the 1990’s.  Nevertheless, church officials continued to allow him to minister to the public.  They even gave him a promotion.

Providence, Rhode Island’s news publication, The Providence Journal, reported that Rev Christopher J. Cunningham is now a licensed psychologist.  Dr. Christopher J. Cunningham, Psy.D. has worked as a licensed psychologist in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.

A Call for Witnesses

Due to the recent developments in additional victims, we believe that there are likely more witnesses.  If you or someone you know suspected that Fr Chris Cunningham was sexually molesting boys, please contact us.

Furthermore, we’d like to hear from anyone who might have seen Fr Chris Cunningham alone with boys or having inappropriate contact with children.  Just as the victims in this case are not alone, neither are the witnesses.  So all potential witnesses are encouraged to come forward and to help in the defense of Fr. Cunningham’s sexual abuse victims.
