As of April 24, 2024, it appears Medrano has been removed and placed on “administrative leave” from his current assignment as Assistant Principal at John F. Kennedy High School in Sacramento. Several news outlets reported on this including the Sacramento Bee, Fox 40 Sacramento, and Yahoo News.
Rosalio “Chalio” Medrano has held positions as teacher, counselor, and/or administrator at various California schools including:
Rosalio “Chalio” Medrano has worked in education in California since the late 1990’s. A former student from one of Medrano’s schools has come forward with allegations of childhood sexual abuse. The former student, identified as Plaintiff John MDO Doe in the Complaint, alleges that in the mid-late 2000’s, Medrano, while working as a school counselor and assistant principal in Los Angeles, manipulated a counseling relationship with the Plaintiff and began sexually abusing him. At the time, the Plaintiff was a struggling student at Medrano’s school. The Plaintiff alleges that the abuse occurred repeatedly for years and included severe acts of abuse in Medrano’s car and at other locations where Medrano would drive the Plaintiff after school. Further, the Plaintiff alleges that administrators/staff at the school became aware that Medrano was engaging in red-flag behavior with the Plaintiff, but did nothing to protect the Plaintiff or stop the abuse. As a result, the abuse continued even after Medrano was re-assigned to a different school.
To this day, Medrano is still working as a California educator and appears to have unrestricted access to minors. To our knowledge, Medrano and his enablers have never been held to account for his sexual abuse. With the civil lawsuit filed by our firm on December 9, 2022 on behalf of John MDO Doe, we are hoping to change that.
If you have any information whatsoever related to Medrano’s sexual abuse of students (or any other minors), please contact us.
